Hi there, have I got a treat for you...I'm taking you out for lunch...
in Cambridge!

 

Through this door is Jamie's Italian Restaurant..
which we found totally by accident...

wandering around Cambridge last Sunday...with our friend from Australia....

Of course the minute I arrive somewhere I have to eat,

and our friend really needed a red wine...so in we went...

I was so excited when I saw the interior,
and madly started running around taking photos...

The fit out of this grade II listed Guildhall is fabulous,
and the place has a great vibe...

I arrived back at the bar to find this beauty waiting for me..

a Rossini...prosecco and seasonal red berries.

Needless to say it was delicious and really hit the spot.

And then from my perch on a barstool I spotted this young lass
making fresh pasta...we all made the decision there and then
that we were having a pasta dish for lunch 

as it wasn't gonna get much fresher than that!

Into the larger dining hall we went...
flooded with natural light from the restored central dome...

with tall columns and beautiful architectural details...

There was a great atmosphere and fantastic looking creations were going by...

and we were starving... so we promptly ordered 

a couple of tins of tomato puree...

just joking...these were used to support our seasonal meat antipasti...

served on a plank!

Yummy!

This was followed of course by pasta, which we inhaled as fast as we could

...sorry no photos...I was too busy stuffing spaghetti bolognese

with a beef ragout sauce, into my mouth!

Oh, except for this photo of the ladies room...
I had to show you these gorgeous sinks and taps.

Leafy Paris

Take two...yes I have already posted this but Blogger appears to have lost it's mind in recent days, so after another hour of uploading photos here is Leafy Paris...again..

..looking it's absolute best in Spring...

Thatched Cottages

One of the most marvelous homes you will see in an English village
is the thatched cottage. 

Usually made of long straw or reeds a typical roof will last

25 to 50 years.

Some of the bigger villages have many fine examples
of thatched roof cottages...

Aren't these cute...they are like little hobbit houses

These white brick homes are quite striking with the dark beams
included into the structure.

A green door beckons on a plain white exterior...

whilst an interesting roof line frames a second floor window.

This is one of my favourite photos...of the only thatched roof cottage
in our village...looking amazing covered in a blanket of snow.

I had hopes of living in a cute thatched cottage when we moved here,
but have since learnt that they can be full of spiders...so that was the end of that!

I've been watching and photographing these peonies all week...

Happy Mothers Day!

Saturday in London.

Hubby and I went for a little shop in London today and our first stop was Victorinox

to buy a travel bag for him. As well as travel goods,

this shops sell clothing and Swiss army knives...

which were displayed like artwork, behind a glass frame...

We continued to fight the crowds stroll around London,
with me happily snapping away...

trouble was every time I turned around after taking my photo

he had disappeared...wandered away...

trying to disown me...again...

I mean...I know that I probably embarrassed him a little in Paris,

when I stuffed those books I found,
into a plastic bag that was blowing around the park...

but really...standing in the middle of a road,
holding up the odd taxi doesn't really compare...

Anyway...we strolled along and 'by chance' came across Avery Row...

and we happened to stumble across my favourite store...fancy that!

Out came the camera again...can you see him in the window...

he's the one with his back to me and his arms crossed...

However, all of a sudden he decided to follow me closely, 

showing great interest in this lovely shop...

in fact he was right on my heels...

So with the excuse that I wanted to check out the changing rooms,

I selected a couple of their gorgeous dresses...just to try on....

and what can I say but ...WOW...

This huge room is totally wallpapered in C&R Toile de jouy...

and accessorized with cushions and fabrics...

and great vintage bits...

I did eventually remove myself from the changing rooms to continue our stroll...

past chocolate shops...

more colourful shop windows...

oh and some rather beautiful looking cherries.

And... I scored!!
